Work

I work in three main roles outside the home at present.

Salaried GP. I am employed part-time as a general medical practitioner (GP). Since 2023, I have been working at Crystal Peaks Medical Practice, Sheffield.

Locum GP. I work part-time as a self-employed sole trader locum GP. This work is in contracts with practices around Derbyshire and South Yorkshire where extra GP work is required, for example due to maternity leave or sickness absence. Practices can arrange a quotation using LovelandLocum.co.uk . I also work in a similar way with providers of out- of- hours clinical attention in England.

GP Tutor. Since 2017, I have been contracted to tutor student doctors from Sheffield Medical School during their GP placements. In 2020, I was conferred the title of Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer from the University of Sheffield in recognition of this work.

BSc Bachelor of Science in Medical Science (St Andrews, 1996)

MB ChB Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (Manchester, 1999)

MSc Master of Science (Thesis: Sound therapy devices for tinnitus) (Imperial College, London, 2005)

With my GMC number, 4642040, you can check that I remain licensed and registered with General Medical Council (GMC) at their website. You can confirm my inclusion on the GP Performers list by contacting the NHS Performer list . Inclusion on this list required me to meet standards of health, such as immunity to Hepatitis B. I am also pleased to offer patients the reassurance that I hold UK private indemnity cover through the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland.

Feedback

When I work as a doctor, I must make the care of the patient my first concern. This and other guidance for GPs is published by the GMC.

If you want to give me constructive feedback so I can improve my work, I would welcome this - please call reception to leave a message, make an appointment, or write to me (care of the duty manager) where I was working at the time we met.

You may prefer to make a formal complaint. In this case, please write for the duty senior or practice manager to investigate directly. This is in accordance with the NHS process on handling complaints. If you need help with this process, please ask for the duty manager to call you back. If you are representing someone else, please remember that it is difficult to respond fully without signed permission to release personal medical information.

Some people have been kind enough to offer gifts. I hope you will understand my tradition of raffling or sharing these with the staff and volunteers who work with me. I am thankful for these who support me in my work, and for you for taking the time to find out more about me.

Declaration of interests

I receive no commissions or bonuses. I do see sales and other commercial staff in public meetings, but do not offer private meetings. I will avoid pharmaceutical hospitality and gifts. I have published about critical appraisal of evidence on treatments and tests.
